Mitchell and Hilarie Morgan Hall helps define the southern gateway to the Temple University campus. The new residential complex includes two residential towers, dining facilities, retail space and a public plaza: all encompassed within an entire city block.

RDG worked with the design, developing a plan that would attain LEED Silver certification. Spacious glass entry lobbies and adjacent study lounges feature radiant cylinder pendants and LED downlights integrated into the articulated wood ceiling. A field of glowing glass fixtures defines the café ceiling in the mid-rise tower. In the lower dining hall, linear fluorescent pendants illuminate the undulating ceiling panels, supplementing the natural daylight.

To maintain safety, RDG selected fixtures to illuminate the people instead of just the ground, while also reducing glare and contrast ratios. At the exterior, this was accomplished with pedestrian scale bollards and poles that provide vertical lighting at the walkways to better light people moving through the terrace. Long-life, low-energy light sources were used throughout to provide ease of maintenance and energy savings.
